From the west coast of Africa and in the crips harmattan season, Ghana, a country touted as the gateway into Africa and regarded as the most welcoming country in Africa, hosts the 13th African Games, formally known as the All-Africa Games or the Pan African Games.
In 1965, the African Games was inaugurated in Brazzaville, Congo. The International Olympic Committee recognizes the African Games as a continental multi-sport event.
The African Games is organized every four years. Twelve editions of the African Games have been organized in the last six decades to showcase the best of African athleticism and camaraderie.
The African Games was established to promote high-performance African sports and foster cultural exchanges. This spectacular event unites athletes from across the African Union states competing in diverse sports.
From the 8th to the 13th of March 2024, Greater Accra is ready to host the 13th edition of the African Games. With 54 nations expected to compete in various disciplines.

Accra is ready to embrace this significant event with the newly constructed Borteyman Sports Complex. This venue will host indoor sports such as table tennis, handball, volleyball, swimming, badminton, and triathlon.

The 13th African Games adds fresh excitement. A total of 23 sports games have been confirmed for this continental event. Squash is set to feature at the 13th African Games, with cricket making its debut after the announcement in February 2022. Arm wrestling and rugby union (sevens) are also set to appear first.
This edition is a crucial qualifier for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France. Athletes vying for victory in Accra will compete for continental glory and aim for a coveted spot on the global stage.
