The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers draw in Africa has rekindled qualification hope among Blackstars fans amidst loss of faith in the Ghana Football Association following their abysmal performance in tournaments lately.
The Ghana Blackstars in group I were drawn with Mali, Comoros, Chad, Madagascar, and Central African Republic.
The draw took place on 13 July 2023 at Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
The World Cup, which will be played in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, have introduced changes in the structure of the qualifiers and the main event, which will happen in 2026.
The nine leaders of the nine groups will qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026. The four best runners-up will play in a CAF Play-off tournament. The winner of the play-off will further play in the FIFA Play-off tournament.
Ghana is the only country with World Cup appearances in this group. The Blackstars are tipped to top group I as they appear as favourites.
