On Friday, 12 April 2024, Ukraine opened its Embassy in Accra to strengthen diplomatic ties with Ghana.
The embassy is located in Cantonments, Accra, 9 Kakramadu Road.
During the ceremony, H.E. Maksym Subkh, the special envoy of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Region, expressed profound gratitude to the Government and people of Ghana for their unwavering support in establishing the diplomatic mission in Accra, a testament to the mutual respect and cooperation between the two nations.
He stated that the opening of the Embassy in Ghana demonstrates a desire to strengthen bilateral relations between Ghana and Ukraine.
In his response, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong (MP), recalled the longstanding relations between the two countries dating back to 1992, shortly after Ukraine gained independence.
He further expressed the Ministry’s commitment and readiness to assist the Charge d’Affaires ad Interim of Ukraine in discharging his duties to enhance relations between the two countries.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps, Ukrainians living in Ghana and other guests.
As a precursor to the Embassy’s opening, H.E. Maksym Subkh paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong (MP) at his office in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration. The two dignitaries engaged in fruitful discussions, exploring potential areas of cooperation that could further strengthen the ties between Ghana and Ukraine.
