The Dun’s Park in Bibiani was filled to the brim on Sunday afternoon as Bibiani Gold Stars SC took on Accra Heart of Lions.
This was a crucial game as a defeat for Accra Heart of Lions could mean a relegation from the Ghana Premier League, and a win for “The Miners” also would secure their first Ghana Premier League title.
The odds swung in favour of The Miners who trashed Accra Lions by 4 goals to nil.
This emphatic victory was anticipated by the fans of Bibiani Gold Stars who looked more than confident before the game.
This was followed by wild celebration all over the Bibiani township as they celebrated their first GPL title.
League Standings & Significance
Bibiani Gold Stars SC won the league with 63 points just above Accra Lions and Nations FC who both finished the league with 60 points.
This GPL title makes Bibiani Gold Stars SC the third successive club from the western regions of Ghana to win the GPL, after Medeama in 2023, and Samartex in 2024, further putting the western regions under spotlight.
According to Frimpong Manso, the Head Coach of Bibiani Gold Stars SC, being crowned the Champions of Ghana football has exceeded their expectations for the season of finishing top 6 in the GPL.
He reiterated, they saw the opportunity to win the league halfway through the season and went for it.
When asked how they did it, he pointed out in an interview with Happy Sports that management’s decision of relocation of their camp to avoid distraction and negative energy was crucial.

Bibiani Gold Stars SC has now qualified for the Confederation of African Football tournament for the 2025/2026 season.
